In the Maldives, choosing the resort is almost choosing the whole trip, because most of your time will be spent on the island itself. That's why transfers, meals and activities deserve as much comparison as the room price.
How you get there
Some resorts are reached by speedboat, others by seaplane or a domestic flight, which affects both cost and arrival time.
Meal plan
Compare breakfast only, half board and all-inclusive — food on the island can be a large part of the budget.
Beach villa or water villa?
A water villa is a special experience, while a beach villa can be more practical for families with children.
For families or honeymoons
Check the child policy and family facilities, or the level of privacy and couple-focused activities.
The full cost
Don't compare the room price alone — add airport transfers, meals, taxes and activities.
Tips before booking
- Compare the final cost, not just the starting price.
- Review the cancellation and change policy before paying.
- Keep a copy of your bookings and travel documents on your phone and in your email.
- For anything related to visas or entry, check the official source again before you travel.
Frequently asked questions
Is a water villa always better?
No — it depends on your budget, the type of traveller and whether you have children.
What is the main hidden cost?
Airport transfers, the meal plan and taxes.
How many nights are right?
Four to seven nights are common, but it depends on your plans.
